The Weekender....

Truth be told, this outfit is more of a weekday uniform for me than an outfit for the weekend. Currently, I am stuck on the combination of riding boots, black pants and a denim or gingham shirt like this one from  J.Crew. I recently ordered the Brompton hobo from J.Crew and I use it almost every day. It is the perfect color  to work with brown and black and is made of the softest leather!

Outfit pieces include:
1. TOMS sunglasses.
2. The J.Crew perfect shirt.
3. KINGS & PRIESTS silver hoops.
4. The Brompton hobo from J.Crew in Henna.
5. The Knowl boots by Born. (Born makes the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. They never disappoint.)
6. Black Citizens of Humanity jeans from Anthropologie.

Be safe and have a great weekend,

The Weekender....

Last weekend wasn't super warm in southern California so I am hoping this weekend will be a little nicer. With the weather being consistent year round, its nice to be able to focus on clothing that would be considered "spring" essentials somewhere else on the globe. Here are my top choices for brunch and shopping.... my favorite weekend activities.

1. TOMS Oversized Classic sunglasses in Tortoise/White/Orange.
2. An orange pleated mini dress from TOPSHOP
3. The simple gold and black Steward necklace from KINGS & PRIESTS
4. Ariel Gordon turquoise rose cut ring. The color is fantastic and looks great with orange!
5. I am a sucker for animal print wedges by Rebecca Minkoff.
6. A fab leather clutch from American Apparel. Seriously they are great... I own a couple of them and can't get enough of the buttery leather and awesome color choices!

Have a great weekend!

Spring forward.....

Check out these pieces from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent's Spring 2012 collection. I love the ethereal, sheer fabrics with chunky layered necklaces.

I think that a few pieces of KINGS & PRIESTS jewelry would pair well with the line too!

Monday Meditation....

Do your best by filling your mind and meditate on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.

2012: The Changing of the Guard......

It's the end of the world as we know it... and I feel fine. Apparently, the Mayan's were unable to see past the year 2012. I don't think that necessarily means that the world is over. I think it means that some of us haven't been able to see what the new world will look like.

As I was meditating on the year 2012 and thinking about my focus for this upcoming season, I really felt like this next year was going to be the beginning of something new.... and more specifically it was going to be the beginning of the changing of the guard.... metaphorically speaking.

As a child, I had the opportunity to watch the changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace. The Changing of the Guard ceremony is the formal handing-over of responsibility from the ‘old guard’ who have been standing guard at St. James’s and Buckingham Palace, to the ‘new guard’. It represents a new order and authority being given to a new group of soldiers. This is the transition that I feel is taking place in the earth. I am not sure exactly what it will look like for everyone..... but for some it will mean the transition into positions of influence and new opportunities. No matter what your political, social or religious convictions are, I think we can all pretty much agree that the world cannot continue as it has been. There are big changes that need to take place.... and probably on governmental levels.

I am in eager anticipation for 2012..........The earth is in eager anticipation for this change too. I believe there are great things in store for us!

Spring Cleaning.....

I know it is winter but I have had this crazy urge to clean out my closet. The sudden urge to throw out the old to make room for the new always seems to come up when I am in seasons of intense transition.

So... here I go again.....Cleaning out my closet one more time......

Christmas Plaid......

I have always been a huge fan of plaid so I was thrilled to discover that this season it's "back in style". So I  now have a legitimate reason to wear my Christmas kilt!

To me, plaid is a symbol of old world elegance...... a wearable signature of birth, privilege, and allegiance to a family line. It reminds me of fur wearing, fox hunting, ladies who lunched from another era.

When I am old, I hope to be one of those ladies wrapped in a fur collar with her teacup poodle sipping tea from a china cup and eating bonbons....
