Travel Journal: Italy 2014 | Part 3

Florence | Italy
"It's my birthday and I will go to Florence if I want to!" I said.
Lovers in love near Ponte Vecchio.

Hands down the best place to ride a carousel on the Piazza della Repubblica.

Street art in the city of art.

We finally found the restaurant we visited on our first trip 8 years ago! Caffe Florian is a must see if you are in Florence or Venice. Fabian the mixologist prepared the best margarita I have ever had.
Il Duomo di Firenze never ceases to impress with its imposing size and massive dome.

And who would have thought?! We ran into a friend from Santa Barbara who was on vacation!
 Such fun!

Travel Journal: Italy 2014 | Part 2

We spent a week in on of my new favorite cities Bologna. Bologna is the capital of the Emilia Romagna region and home of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati, La Perla and Furla. That's some serious design credibility. And did I mention the food???

The Sartorialist

One of my favorite things about travel is people watching. Here are a few of my favorite images I snapped around Europe this summer.

 London | England

I caught this dapper man outside of Liberty. His hat and bag were the first thing that caught my eye.

Bologna | Italy

Europeans do far more walking than Americans as their cities were built around pedestrians not cars. I love how this woman looks effortlessly chic with her topknot, sporty shoes and large leather bag.

Milan | Italy

The color in this photo is untouched. I was struck by the contrast of her plum colored hair, pale skin and bold lips.

Milan | Italy

These twins were just outside the Emporio Armani Caffe in Milan, a definite hot spot. I love the fan  and how they express their individuality with slightly different hair styles and glasses.

Milan | Italy

We happened upon a photo shoot right outside of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II on our arrival in Milan. What a perfect way to be introduced to the fashion capital!

Travel Journal: England 2014 | Part I

This past May I had the opportunity to return to England with my Mom. Being 1/4 British, I have always felt connected to the country but nothing feels more like home to me than the English countryside. I dream of returning one day and buying a bed and breakfast. You can come visit if you want!

We visited Bath again and took the spa waters.

    We visited Jane Austen's house.....

   ....And Miss Marple's

I decided I would own a house one day with a red door and a little dog named Lady Jane.

We went had tea as often as we could and I brought back a five pound souvenir.

We drank Pimm's on rainy afternoons.

    We found the best pubs.............

   ...........and gardens.

The Autumn Season

Over the past 5 years I have made a deliberate study of the seasons of life in my own and in those around me. Some seasons namely Winter and Spring are easy to recognize....Winter with its death of old things and Spring which brings a renewal and birth of the new. I have found that Autumn and Summer are slightly more challenging to identify, particularly Autumn in which I find myself currently. This season is a duel between what seem like opposing realities. As in nature, in Autumn we see the fading glory of a past season and also an abundant harvest ultimately knowing that this harvest is temporary as we look towards a dormant Winter.

I have found this season to be one of the most challenging and rewarding as I have gathered a harvest of years of sowing, learning and growing in my industry through consulting and at the same time have sensed the end of a season with KINGS&PRIESTS. It has been painful and glorious as I have made the transition to embrace the new and let go of the old recognizing that where I once received life was no longer where I wanted to spend my time and resources.

Unclear of what this "new" looks like I have found comfort in looking at nature and her seasons knowing that this too shall pass and that each transition brings a new perspective and opportunity. I have also learned to let things go in the midst of uncertainty and without a new vision. My business, KINGS&PRIESTS is not "dying" necessarily but rather transitioning to something new. In the meantime helping others start and enhance their business through consulting has given me the opportunity to invest in the dreams of other people and use the knowledge and wisdom that has been developed through my own journey of business development for which I am truly grateful. I look forward to the future and what is to come not knowing if this future includes jewelry design or something entirely different and will most likely include opportunities I do not expect.

So my question is "What season are you in?"
